Established on June 12, 1964, under the APAU Act 1963, Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) initially bore the name Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU). In tribute to the esteemed Parliamentarian and Kisan Leader, Acharya N. G. Ranga, it underwent a renaming on November 7, 1996, becoming Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University.
As the Golden Jubilee Year of ANGRAU drew near its completion, a significant development unfolded. Pursuant to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act 2014, the university contributed to the establishment of a new State Agricultural University known as Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University. This marked a pivotal moment in the bifurcation of the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Currently, ANGRAU, situated at LAM, Guntur, remains dedicated to serving students and farmers across the 13 districts of the new state of Andhra Pradesh with renewed interest and commitment.
